State College Summer Orchestra
Please visit out 2013 Season page for more information on this year's concerts.
It's that time of year again! After a successful second season in 2012, the State College Summer Orchestra (SCSO) is back with an exciting program this summer. This year's repertoire includes works from 1673 to 2013, three world premieres, music from South America to Scandinavia, and two wonderful soloists. Please help spread the word to interested and capable performers so that we can continue to provide performance opportunities for musicians and for the community after the regular concert season has ended.

The SCSO is made up of community professionals and students, as well as Penn State faculty and students. Founded in 2010, this all-volunteer organization relies entirely on community support to fund music and equipment rentals. Offering free concerts each summer, the SCSO serves the dual purpose of providing an opportunity for local musicians to perform in an orchestral setting over the summer and providing a musical experience to State College residents over the summer, when many other orchestras have finished their seasons. Donations to the SCSO are accepted to defray the costs of performance rights, rental equipment, and advertising. All donations received beyond these expenses are donated to a designated charity for that concert.
